26wks today

So I have slacked on writing my blog, mostly because nothing new has really gone on. Little did I realize that I have gone 3 weeks without posting...whoops.
I had my ultrasound and doctors appointment last week. All went well. They got a great shot of his spine this time but he decided to be a stinker and cover his face with his arms so we couldn't get a goo face shot of him for me to take home. No matter I guess because the arms in front of the face crack me up. I have decided to get a 3d ultrasound, probably between the dates of Sept 14-23. After that point I will be in Chicago and when I get back he will be too big to get a nice picture.

So what is new with me...well not too much. Morning sickness is still around although there are days I can muscle through it and not get sick. I am slowly starting to gain weight which is good. I finally gained a whole 2lbs at my last doctors appt. I am sure since all Connor is doing now is growing and putting on weight I will be gaining weight now.
Sleeping has been a struggle the last few weeks. I am told I cannot sleep on my back due to circulation reasons and I cannot sleep on my stomach. They say the best side to sleep on is your left, provides the best blood circulation to the baby, but sleeping on your right side isn't bad for the baby. I find myself having to flip flop throughout the night otherwise I either A) get sore hips and shoulders or B) my arm will fall asleep. I have a nice pattern now so I can manage to sleep at least 5 hours straight a night, but I still miss the nights where I could sleep 7 hours non-stop. I know everyone keeps saying how this is nothing wait till the baby comes...well duh I know I wont sleep when the baby comes which is why I would like to get as much as I can now.

I still cannot believe how fast this is going. In just two weeks I will be entering my third trimester. In 4 weeks I will be having my baby shower. As of right now I have nothing but a few sets of cloths so really nothing in my house has changed. Once the baby shower is over and I go out and buy the rest of the things I need and start getting the nursery together I think its going to finally hit me how crazy my life is about to change. I got to admit, as miserable as I have felt I kind of like being pregnant. One would think, with how sick I was and all, that I would not want to do this over but to be honest it hasn't been all that bad. Its nothing that I cannot handle more then it was something I just had to get use to.

As far as Connor goes he is doing well. All the tests and ultrasounds have come back normal so I can only pray he is developing how he should. I am starting to get use to his sleep patterns now. I know around 5am each morning he will be awake and moving around and then usually around 2pm he is at it again. Then he is active when I get home around 7pm and I am able to lie down and relax. He really starts moving around when I drink orange juice or if I lie on my back on the couch. Part of me wishes he would move around more but I know they sleep like 18hours a day and that I am usually on my feet all afternoon and they will normally sleep when you are moving around.

Well that is about all that is new with me and Connor. Besides the 3d ultrasound I have no more scheduled, but he is still breach so they might do another one next month but they might just feel my stomach to see where he is. I have yet to feel him kick by my ribs so I have a feeling his feet are still down and his head is up but he still has 15 weeks to flip over.

22 Weeks

Today marks 22 weeks. I still feel like these weeks are dragging by, but seeing this is my first full week back at work maybe the weeks will start speeding up again.
Sleeping on my left side is much easier now. I find that if I am on my right side at night I get uncomfortable and have a much better time falling asleep on my left. Seeing that the doc said the left side is the best side to sleep on (for circulation reasons) I am pretty happy that I sleep the easiest on that side.
My morning sickness has flipped over to nighttime now. When I wake up in the morning I find that I feel pretty good, and really its probably the best I feel during the day. I don't mind feeling sick at night because by then my day is over anyway and I don't feel like a bum if I just lie around.
I am finding that I get exhausted much easier now. I go to work at 1pm and by 5pm I am dead tired, and its not like I am doing all that much at work to begin with.
I feel Connor move every day now. I am starting to notice his sleep patterns more and more now. Usually mid-day he is quiet and is more active in the late morning and evenings.

21 weeks

All of the sudden it feels like things are going in slow motion. Maybe it was because weeks 14-20 flew by but it seemed like this week dragged on forever.
Nothing much new to report. I am feeling Connor every day now, but still the kicks aren't quite strong enough to feel from the outside. I am starting to get use to sleeping on my left side now. I still have issues at night sometimes with getting sore especially my shoulders but overall it seems to be getting better. My energy is zero again along with any motivation I had.
Eating is still a struggle. I can only guess that my stomach shrank during the months I could hardly eat because now it seems I cannot eat a full meal, heck not even half a meal. I am working on eating more frequently though so hopefully that will get better. Even though the doctor didnt seem all that concerned I would feel better if I was starting to gain some weight instead of slowly going down/staying the same.
I have started buying baby cloths. I keep finding little outfits here and there that I just have to have. I thought buying for a boy would be hard but I am finding that I am having an easier time with it now.
My next step is helping my mom get my baby shower invites out.

How far along? 21 weeks (halfway there!!)

20wk doctor appointment...

...went very well. I have to go back in 5 weeks for another ultrasound because Connor would not flip over and let the tech scan his spine. That and he was in a breach position so they just want to make sure he flips over. Other then that the doctor said everything looked good. His heart rate was 150 yesterday and you could hear through the doppler that he was moving around.
I still have yet to gain any weight during this pregnancy. Actually my weight was down again by 0.8lbs. I thought I was suppose to have gained weight by now so I asked the doc if I should be concerned. She said since the baby looked good and he was in the 73rd percentile as far as growth was concerned and my uterus was the right size that she was not concerned. She said he is a big boy so thats all that really matters. What I need to do though is work on eating small, frequent meals throughout the day so that I do not get dizzy spells and headaches (like I have been getting). Pretty much Connor is taking what he needs but not leaving much for me lol. I told the doc its hard because whenever I eat I feel like crap after but my mom said to just eat really small, but frequent meals so that hopefully I wont feel so bad after eating all the time. My blood pressure was nice and normal so my checkup went well too.
The end of August will be my next ultrasound and doctors appointment. I cannot wait to see how big he is by then.

20 weeks today!!! Halfway there!!

Wow I am halfway done with this pregnancy. Part of me feels like I have been pregnant forever and the other half feels like this is going way to fast.
I had my anatomy scan yesterday bright and early. They took about 80 pictures and hopefully I will find out at my doctors appointment tomorrow that everything is developing normally. I was able to get the tech to tell me that she didn't see anything abnormal, but she isn't technically allowed to tell me one way or the other. She also told me he was measuring at 20wks 3 days which is about 4 days ahead so he is still growing. They checked the gender and it was clear he is still very much a boy. There wasn't much doubt from the gender scan, but it is always nice to have that reassurance.
He is starting to kick a lot more now. I notice that during the day he is mostly quiet and in the evening/nighttime hours he is up and moving around. I also notice if I try to sleep on my left side he starts kicking me...apparently he does not like me lying on that side. When I switch over to my right side he settles down for the most part.
I still have morning sickness, but its not nearly as strong as before. I think in the last 2 weeks I only got sick once and that was because I didn't take my meds in the morning. I tried holding out again today but I started feeling that strong wave of nausea hit me and I didn't want to ruin my morning (since I feel pretty good).
I am starting to get really tired again...I slept well two nights ago but for some reason after my 8am ultrasound yesterday I had to come home and pass back out again.
We are halfway done with our registry...most of our items are at Baby's R Us, but I am also going to swing by Target and start one there too. I am thinking I am going to do that this Saturday.
My dreams are starting to get really trippy. I am use to having strange dreams but these are plain crazy and make no sense. Even if I wake up and go back to sleep 30mintues later I still have the same crazy dream I was having before I woke up.
Well that is about all that is new. Will update tomorrow when I get back from my doctors appointment.

How far along? 20 weeks (halfway there!!)
Weight gain/loss: Down 7lbs from pre-pregnancy weight, but that is about a 3lb gain from 2 weeks ago
Maternity clothes? yep
Stretch marks? Nope.
Sleep? not sleeping well. cannot get comfortable and he keeps kicking me.
Best moment this week? seeing him on u/s again and feeling stronger kicks
Movement: daily, mostly at night
Food cravings: nothing
Gender: BOY!!!
Belly button in or out? in
What I miss? sleeping on my stomach
What I am looking forward to? talking to the doctor tomorrow and seeing if he is developing normally

We are having a........

BOY!!!! We went for the gender scan yesterday while I was home in Chicago and thankfully our little one was not shy about showing off the goods. He was not very active though so we didn't get to see a lot of movement, but his heart rate was 147bpm and the ultrasound tech said everything looked good.
We go in on July 20th for the anatomy scan at the hospital. That is going to take about an hour and hopefully everything will be normal.
Since I am back in Chicago its hard to keep the blog updated. In three more days I will be 19 weeks so I kind of missed my 18 week post.
I am still getting sick in the mornings and I am still getting a lot of headaches. I am definitely showing now and my stomach is very sore.
I will update more in a few days, hopefully I will have my u/s pics up as well.

How far along? 18 weeks

17 weeks

Today marks my 17th week and as usual nothing really has changed. I still find that I am getting sick in the mornings, some days it only happens once and I am fine the rest of the day, other times I feel sick all day.
I am being told I am starting to finally show. I am noticing that, while I still feel sick, I do have more of an appetite. Maybe the baby is going through a growth spurt.
I still have 3 more weeks until my anatomy ultrasound. Hopefully we will find out what gender the baby is.
I leave for Chicago in about 6 days and I hope to start my registry at that time. Of course I will have to hold off on choosing items that are gender specific until the end of July, but really all that will include is the bedding and any clothing items.
Other then that nothing really new to report.

How far along? 17 weeks
Weight gain/loss: still down 7lbs from pre-pregnancy weight

16 weeks

16 weeks today and I woke up to a miserable day. (warning some of this might be tmi). I did not sleep very well last night mostly because I was having some RLP and I couldn't get comfortable. Then our power went out and I woke up because the house was starting to get hot (it was still probably 90 degrees outside so it doesn't take long). Anyone who knows me also knows I need the TV on to sleep and since it was pitch black, totally quiet, and hot I had a horrible time getting back to sleep. Add to that i got a killer headache.
Well this morning I woke up and maybe 30 seconds later (not exaggerating) I felt like I was going to throw up. (this is the TMI I was warning about) I got through the door in the bathroom before I threw up...that's right I didn't even make it to the toilet. Thankfully its early morning and I had nothing in my stomach, but still I was pissed. I mean I didn't even have time to take my meds, heck I hardly had time to realize I was awake. Thankfully once I throw up that is usually the end of the m/s drama for the day, but I still have that horrible headache from the previous night.
Since I have pretty much felt like crap for the past 10 weeks I am in a pretty crabby mood most of the time. All I have been wanting lately is to be alone, but that requires me locking myself in my room and of course that really doesn't help. I am getting tired of waiting for this 'second wind' you are suppose to get during your second trimester. I think I am screwed and I will be like this the entire pregnancy...and if that is the case I don't know how I am going to deal with it. .
As far as my pregnancy goes, nothing has really changed. Some people say I am starting to show, but I just take that as I am looking fat. I don't see that I look pregnant. No cute baby bump for me. Besides the last time I posted I don't think I have felt the baby move. I guess I should start feeling the baby between now and 20 weeks. I checked the baby's heart rate yesterday and it was a nice steady 160. Its very easy to find now and very loud.
So yeah, today is not such a good day. I just worry I will have more bad days then good the way things are going. I hate to complain but I cannot help it sometimes. Maybe its just pregnancy hormones kicking my butt and making me all emotional but either way i am wanting to be alone.

15 Weeks

Today marks 15 weeks. My new meds seem to be helping a lot, but its only been two days so I am still skeptical.
Nothing new really to report. I swore I felt the baby move last night. I know my doc said that at any time between now and 20wks I should start feeling the baby. I was lying on my back in bed watching TV and I kept getting this odd flutter in my stomach...I kept adjusting my position because it was bugging me. I would move, it would quit for a few minutes, then I would get the flutter again. It almost felt like a muscle twitching or something. Then it dawned on me...this could be the first movements I am feeling. I know its described as a flutter or twitch. And it was right in the area where the baby is. It only lasted about 10min total and then it went away. It could be anything, but it was nothing that I have ever felt before. I know what gas and general digestive flutters feel like and this was more of a muscle twitch...but right below my belly button. Whatever it was it felt so odd.

How far along? 15 weeks
Weight gain/loss: down 8lbs from pre-pregnancy weight
Maternity clothes? nope, I will wear some of my tops because they are cute, but not necessary yet
Stretch marks? Nope.
Sleep? Hit and miss, some nights I sleep great, other nights I toss and turn.
Best moment this week? Seeing my little one (LO) on the ultrasound again, looking great!
Movement: I think I felt movement last night. Felt like a tiny muscle spasm a few inches below my belly button. Was off and on for about 10 minutes...felt so odd.
Food cravings: I wish...so far I crave nothing
Gender: unknown
Belly button in or out? in
What I miss? being able to eat without feeling sick.

2nd Doctor Appointment = 2nd ultrasound

Today was my second doctor appointment. They took my vitals, all were normal. I have another batch of blood-work that is due, but I am a bit early for it so it will have to wait until my next appointment.
The doc then went over the ultrasound from two weeks ago. The heart-rate was "really good" at 155 and the growth was good too, well within where the baby should be at this time. She was concerned about my amniotic fluid. The ultrasound tech had noted that it was pretty low. She was asking if I was experiencing any leaking and I said nope. Pretty sure I would realize if fluid was just randomly leaking from me. So she sent me downstairs for another ultrasound. I was a little worried...because they don't just send you down for ultrasounds for any little thing. Thankfully I had taken the last two weeks off work and was really focusing on drinking more, so I was hoping maybe things would be better.
Turns out the fluid level was much better this time around. She rated it as moderate. She told me I had to continue to increase my fluids and that I should "not work at the pool anymore". I dread letting my boss know, but I think he won't be too surprised. Its not like I have been working a lot lately anyway.
So at the end of the day the baby was still measuring where it should, the heart rate was still good at 153 (anywhere between 120-190 is normal) and the fluid level was much better. The overall position of the baby was better too.
All that is left is to chat with my boss...not looking forward to that.

14 Weeks!

So today I am 14 weeks along. Not much is changing. I do find that I am feeling a lot better. I still get sick in the mornings but it doesn't last long and the rest of the day (for the most part) I feel pretty good. All I have to do is take naps when I get really sleepy and that seems to do the trick nicely. I have been getting more headaches, but they are nothing like the migraines I was getting. These are just annoying and they linger for a while.
Yesterday I think I had my first experience with round ligament pain. Right on the inside of my hip I was getting sharp pains that would last a few seconds and then go away, but it would happen every minute or so. I was having some on my right side, but mostly it was my left side. Today its better, but I am still having a stabbing pain every so often. I guess that means everything is starting to stretch and grow.
My second doctors appointment is Monday. There they will measure my uterus, take my vitals, discuss my ultrasound results, and hopefully schedule my second ultrasound. The second ultrasound will be about an hour long and hopefully that will be the time where I get to see what I am growing...a boy or a girl. Most think I am having a boy.

OK I am totally copying from a friend of mine, but I am going to start adding a little survey at the end of my blogs, just to update on my overall progress.

How far along? 14 weeks
Weight gain/loss: still down 6lbs from pre-pregnancy weight
Maternity clothes? Sometimes, mostly when I want to be super comfy but not necessary yet
Stretch marks? Nope.
Sleep? Hit and miss, some nights I sleep great, other nights I toss and turn.
Best moment this week? Starting to 'feel' more pregnant
Movement: Saw movement on the u/s. I feel flutters every so often the past few days but that could easily be something else, although I am told its probably the baby
Food cravings: I wish...so far I crave nothing
Gender: unknown
Belly button in or out? in
What I miss? being able to eat without feeling sick.
What I am looking forward to? Our next ultrasound!!!

Ultrasound

Had my first ultrasound yesterday and it went great. The baby is where it should be and was measuring at 13 weeks and 4 days and the heart rate was 155 which I am told is very good. We got to see the baby move around and even open its mouth a few times.
The only thing I have to work harder at is drinking more water, but since my morning sickness seems to be slowly getting better that should be easier to do.
My next ultrasound wont be until around 20 weeks and I am told that one lasts about 45-50 minutes. Hopefully that is when we will find out the sex of the baby.
I feel much better now that I got to actually see him/her and that, as of now, everything seems to be going as it should.

13 weeks

And (according to a few sources) starting my second trimester. My hopes of the morning sickness going away was short lived...really only for that day a few days ago. Today I was back to feeling like crap again; throwing up, horrible headache, no appetite to speak of. Its really making it hard for me to go to work.
Tomorrow is my ultrasound! I am so excited, but at the same time scared to death. My worst fear is that they find something wrong. Thankfully its at 10:45am so I do not have to wait long. If everything goes well I will put the images on a cd and upload them to the computer so I can post them. Also, if the doc says everything is looking good I will officially come out and announce that I am pregnant on facebook and make my blog public to everyone.
Sill not showing, but I don't expect I will till maybe next month of the end of this month. Haven't starting gaining any weight either...as a matter of fact I am still slowly losing weight, mostly from the morning sickness. I really need to start focusing on getting more calories in, maybe buy those Ensure drinks or something similar so that I get the calories in.
Well hopefully all goes well tomorrow.

end to my morning sickness???

So this weekend I found that I felt a little better. I still had to take my Zofran in the morning because I would get that really strong nausea wave, but my energy levels have seemed to pick up some.
Well today I woke up and expected the same routine I have been in the last 7 weeks which involved taking my meds about 5 minutes after I woke up since the nausea hits me like a train pretty much right when my eyes open. To my surprise an hour had gone by and nothing. I felt just fine. I had a few moments where I was gagging a bit, but that "omg I am going to be sick" feeling never came.
I am hoping that maybe this is the end of my dreaded morning sickness. It has been 7 weeks of pure hell pretty much and I am really looking forward to actually enjoying my pregnancy before I become huge and uncomfortable.
Oh still not showing yet, but I am having some ligament pains so I think that might change in the next month...we will see.

12 weeks today

Today marks my 12th week. So far nothing really has changed. I am still not showing that I can tell, my morning sickness is still just as bad as ever (explaining why I am up at 6am typing my blog) and I still have no appetite to speak of. I miss the days when I would look at something and think "wow that looks so good". Now I look at anything and think..."blah"
My ultrasound is in 8 days and I am really nervous about it. I found my baby's heart beat on doppler yesterday but I still cannot allow myself to believe that everything is alright, not until I see pictures and the doc says "yep, everything looks great". I am so scared something is going to be wrong, that this pregnancy is not going to last.
For fun I took a gender prediction test yesterday, one of those tests you buy at the store. It told me I was going to have a boy but those tests are known to be wrong, I took it mostly for fun.
Well, since I am still not feeling great I am going to end my post. Unless anything crazy happens I will post again next week, hopefully with some great news and some cool ultrasound pictures. If I get the all clear from the doc I will be posting it on facebook so everyone can finally know.

11 weeks today

I figure unless something interesting comes up I will put up on post a week when I move up a week. Today I am 11 weeks pregnant. I am still not showing yet so it still doesn't feel quite real yet, but thanks to a home monitor I purchased I did get to hear the baby's heartbeat this morning. Its beating at a nice stead 160-165bpm.
I haven't gotten sick in the last two days, but I have been waking up around 4am and taking my Zofran so that I don't throw up at 8am. I think tomorrow I will hold off on taking it and see if I am still getting sick. I know two days ago I was still throwing up.
My ultrasound is in two weeks. I cannot wait!! I just want to see that the baby is growing normally and that everything is where its suppose to be.

We have a heartbeat!!

On Friday I went in for my first doctor's appointment. Got an exam and went over my test results (all were normal). The doctor then got a little hand-held Doppler out and tried to find the baby's heartbeat.
His Doppler was running out of batteries, so every few seconds it would shut off and he would have to turn it back on again. He kept finding my heart rate which was a little annoying because every time I would hear the hint of a heartbeat I would get all excited. I thought for sure we would walk out of the office not hearing anything. But right before he called it quits he found it. We couldn't get an exact bpm reading, but he estimated it around 160bpm, which is really good. It was so surreal to hear it...it makes this whole experience a little more real now. Before the only hint that this was real is the missing periods and the constant nausea but now that I heard the heartbeat it really hits home that there is a little person growing inside me. It was a feeling I have never had before and really cannot explain. All I can say is that it was awesome.
In two more weeks I have my ultrasound appointment...I think that's when its really gonna hit home that this is real. I really hope everything turns out ok.

Another ER visit

So about three days ago I had to make another ER visit for migraines. This one was really bad and I knew I wouldn't be able to muscle through it. This is my third migraine in a little under two weeks. I am really hoping that this isn't going to be some sort of trend. I am really focusing on drinking a lot of fluid and getting a lot of rest.
My morning sickness is still as bad as ever, although I am finally figuring out when I need to take my medication so that I do not get sick. Of course yesterday my body tricked me and I ended up getting sick at night. I figure the second I start to feel nauseous I am just going to take my meds.
My first doctors appointment is the 14th. That is when I should be able to hear the baby's heartbeat. My ultrasound isn't until early June. 4 weeks seems like a lifetime away. I really want to see the baby, although if we can hear the heartbeat next week that will be ease my mind too.
I am starting to crochet a baby blanket. Figure this one can be green and white and then when I find out the sex of the baby I can then make another one, more gender specific. I cannot believe I am going to be 9 weeks along come Wednesday.

Little peanut is kickin my butt

I don't think I have even been so sick in my life. The ER visit helped for a total of 24 hours, then I got sick all over again. This time though I was careful and took my meds to help curve the nausea. An unexpected symptom has popped up though, migraines. I have gotten two in less then a week, the first lasted 3 days, this one is lasting well into my second day. I wouldn't be surprised if I still feel it tomorrow.
The doctors at the hospital are pretty useless right now. I know there are certain meds I could take to help with the migraine pain during this pregnancy but they don't seem to want to prescribe them to me. Instead their answer is to go back to the ER, get more fluids and more IV meds...the same meds I would like just in pill form so I don't have to waist a day at the ER and get IV's stuck in my arms. Maybe I can get someone to give me something at my orientation Thursday. That is the day I get put into the OB/GYN system and get told when all my doctor appointments are. If not, I guess all I can do is hide in my room for a few days and pray I sleep most of the migraine away.
This Wednesday is 8 weeks so far, I guess I will just take it week from week and hopefully, one of these weeks, the symptoms will lessen.
Hopefully I will find out when I get my ultrasound. That is what I am looking forward to the most. If that goes well, then I am going to tell everyone my news.

Trip to the ER

So for about a week now I have been throwing up. Its morning, noon and night with no real relief. Yesterday I got some Zofran for the nausea, but apparently I waited a little too long to get it. Yesterday I got a horrible migraine that never let up. Kept me up all night and only got worse today. The nurse at the hospital thought it would be best if I went to the ER.
I was happy the doc wasn't too concerned. He lectured me about the importance of staying hydrated and trying to combat the nausea before I get to the point of no return. He hooked me up on IV fluids and gave me some injectable meds for the nausea and the migraine. The nausea went away pretty fast, but the migraine hung on until this evening. Now I am just really out of it and starting to feel nauseous again. I took my Zofran and am trying to eat crackers in hopes that it doesn't get worse.
I do not like that I got a bunch of different meds all at once today, but the doc assured me it wouldn't affect the baby.
Lets hope this next week wont be as bad. Tomorrow marks my 7th week of pregnancy.I am trying real hard to stay hydrated but its so hard when you get sick all the time.
